Auction Houses/Personal Stores

I was thinking these would be a cool idea for players to sell their items for money and such.

The Auction House would be a big, public, PvP-free, place where players can buy other player's items. There should be a way to sort and search items so it's not a pain in the ass to look through.

For Personal Stores, I was thinking players should be allowed to rent a space for a limited time, and set up their own shops within "Town" type areas. This is for when a player has many duplicate items that they'd like to sell, as I was thinking the Auction House would be for more unique and "singular" items. #items #mechanics #areas

Unique Items

There will obviously be default items that a player can craft or can be dropped from enemies. Players can enchant, modify, and rename these items, making them unique. Their names will also be plastered on the description of the item. I was thinking this would be a nice way of making the world feel more alive, with real people walking around type. #items

Rare Items

These items would be like Unique Items, but instead of player generated they're dropped from mini-bosses/shinies. They have unique properties and are stronger than default items. #items #mechanics

Legendary Items

This one is straight up from my Minecraft server and also from the old Calamity where there were these "legendary items" that had a really low drop chance but scaled with the player. Now, for Terraria that didn't really work that well because it kind of invalidated grinding anything other than bosses, but I feel like it could work here where it would scale with the levels/area you're in, never being too overpowered, just right.

Also it would have unique enchantments, effects, and modifications. #items #mechanics itemtypes

Item Modification

There are three main ways to modify your items: Enchanting, Socket Gems, and Reforging. Let's start with Enchanting.

Enchanting is pretty simple. One way to get enchantments is by enchanting your item at an Enchanting Station in the Librarian House in "Town" Type areas. You will need an enchanting stone (placeholder moment) and the item itself. This will give you a random set of enchants. You can also get an enchantment scroll as a random drop. You can collect these scrolls and then put them through the Enchanting Station, ensuring you get the desired enchantment.

Socket Gems work a bit differently. They drop randomly, from killing mobs and players, participating in raids, and joining the PvP arenas. They give the weapon boosts in power in specific areas. Weapons have randomly generated Socket Gem slots, ranging from 0 to 3. You can increase the amount of Socket Gem slots to the maximum of 5 by reforging.

Reforging Terraria. Nuff said.

PvP

This one I been thinking about a lot. There's two types of pvp, of which one of the other types can also be divided into a few more sub categories. Let's start with the indivisible one, Overworld PvP.

Just like games like FS:R where you can fight in the Overworld, it can also happen here. I feel like ganking is an essential part of any PvP game with progression. Losing a fight in the Overworld makes you lose money and some items. (This could be changed cause I know it's kinda frustrating losing shit but I feel like that's the vibe I want)

The other type of PvP is the PvP arena, casual, ranked, and risk of ranked (boom). First, casual. It's casual, nuff said. No stakes, just dumb fun. Next is ranked, I'm pretty sure you're familiar with systems like this so no need to go too in-depth, though I was thinking there should be items locked to ranked.

Finally, risk of ranked. I was inspired by PvP Minecraft servers where there's also a PvP area, but you lose EVERYTHING if you die there. This place has a different rank system, has even more items locked behind it, and has the allure of getting the unique items of other players by killing them. (P.S. It's not permadeath. You keep your levels, you just lose your stuff.) #items #mechanics #combat #areas

Mini-bosses

Mini-bosses would be rare mobs that spawn in random, non-safe zones, with extra health and modifiers, making them more challenging than regular mobs. I was thinking they should also be bigger, and have a visible health bar like bosses should. They have a chance to drop Rare Items. #mechanics #combat

Shinies

Similar to Mini-bosses, shinies are rare mobs that have a chance of spawning in their mob group. They are stronger, and have more defense than regular mobs. They drop more money and exp. They have a chance to drop Rare Items, just with a lower rate than Mini-bosses. #mechanics #combat
